I was born in Van Buren, Arkansas in 1943. My parents lived on a farm where they did share-crop farming. Later they moved nearer to town on a small truck patch and they both went to work in Fort Smith. When I entered the 9th grade, they moved to Fort Smith and became city dwellers. They always had a garden.

TROY RAYMOND HUNTER was born in Mulberry, Arkansas in 1907, the son of John Henry Hunter and Ara Leona Wagner. He grew up around Mulberry, Arkansas and was primarily a farmer. He was next to the youngest of eight children.

John Henry Hunter was born on February 25, 1867 in Sedalia, LaClede, Missouri.
He married Ara Leona Wagner on June 20, 2889 in Franklin, Arkansas.

One child, Jesse, was born April 9, 1890 and died in 1891.
